Officeworks becomes a participant in WWF's Global Forest and Trade Network
Officeworks sells many products that come from forests, such as paper, notebooks and furniture. Officeworks understands the importance of forests as a vital resource for maintaining biodiversity and providing food, fibre, medicine and shelter for many of the poorest people on the planet. Forests also underpin many developing countries’ economies, especially in the tropics.
In 2014, Officeworks became a participant in World Wild Fund for Nature’s (WWF) Global Forest and Trade Network (GFTN). The GFTN is designed to increase accountability for products derived from forests. Our GFTN participation builds on our existing policy on Responsible Forest Product Purchasing. Through the GFTN participation, Officeworks is working towards sourcing more products from sustainably managed forests with credible forest certification such as Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
With WWF, we have also engaged team members and suppliers on the value of responsible sourcing and how our actions can make a positive difference to the environment.
