Coles commits to 100 per cent Certified Sustainable Palm Oil by 2015
Coles customers tell Coles that they care about where their food comes from and how it’s produced, so Coles has committed to 100 per cent Certified Sustainable Palm Oil by 2015 in Coles branded products.
Palm oil is a particularly useful product in baked goods, however unsustainable farming practices have a negative impact on the environment and wildlife in developing countries where palms are grown.
Coles began to convert to sustainable palm oil in 2012 and since then has converted over 180 products, many of which relate to the bakery section at Coles, including over 100 lines of in-store baking mixes used for bread, rolls, doughnuts and cakes supplied by Allied Mills. For example, Coles French sticks and 7 Seed rolls now use sustainable palm oil, which is shown on the label, making it easier for customers to make an informed purchasing decision.
