Stakeholder engagement survey
Who are the survey respondents?
Our stakeholder engagement survey was completed by over 100 respondents, which included employees, shareholders, community partners, NGOs, customers, analysts, community members and the media.
What did stakeholders say?
Seventy-five per cent of respondents believed that Wesfarmers is a good corporate citizen and the remaining 25 per cent believed Wesfarmers is mostly a good corporate citizen, with some areas of concern. No respondents believed that Wesfarmers was not a good corporate citizen. The most common areas of concern were Coles’ supplier relationships, ethical sourcing and Wesfarmers’ investment in coal and gaming assets.
Nearly 90 per cent of respondents had at least browsed through our 2013 Sustainability Report, either in hard copy or online. More than half of the respondents were interested in each area of last year’s report. Seventy per cent of respondents prefer an online version of the report. Other suggestions for improvement included a greater focus on materiality and targeted information for stakeholder groups with specific interests.
How has this feedback been taken into account in this year’s report?
All areas of concern identified in the stakeholder engagement survey have been addressed in this year’s online report. The search function should also help stakeholders to find the information quickly, without having to print the whole report.
All the topics covered in last year’s report are covered again, albeit with a slightly different structure to make it easier to understand what our priority issues are.
This year we have moved to a complete online report which presents information in a more interactive and customisable way. We will also produce a shorter overview in hard copy to reduce the consumption of resources.
Additional web pages have been included to provide more detail on areas of interest to particular stakeholder groups, such as investment in coal assets and Spirit Hotels and gaming. We have also included more detail on our materiality process.
How can I provide my own feedback?
